However, Kelingking Beach has become more popular under the name T-Rex. Especially, the 200-meter high drop down overlooking the T-rex head and the beach is just mindblowing.

How to get to Kelingking Beach

The easiest options getting to Kelingking T-Rex Beach on Nusa Penida is to hop on a speedboat from Sanur Beach to Nusa Penida Island. There are some operators that do speed boat transfers from Sanur Beach to Nusa Penida Island and back. I recommend the https://angelbillabongfastboat.com/. Another option to visit is by a Nusa Penida day tour from Bali or Nusa Lembongan. In this case, you won’t be the only one at this spot. However, most of the tourists stay at the top at the viewpoint. To avoid this you can visit before 9am, after that Nusa Penida day tours start.

On the island of Nusa Penida, you can hire a scooter and make the journey to Kelingking, which is about 30 minutes from the Toya Pakeh harbor.

Kelingking Beach Entrance Fee

When you arrive at the parking spot you will have to pay a small fee of 5,000 IDR for parking, which also includes the entrance fee to Kelingking Beach. The payment should be cash in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), so please prepare small cash before you come here.

Park your scooter then walk down to the main viewing area. If you walk over to the right of the cliffs, you can get some pretty cool views looking down at the T-rex shaped cliffs and dazzling white sand beach below.

Nusa Penida has so many amazing views making it hard to pick a favorite.

This Kelingking beach viewpoints is hard to believe that it’s real when you see it for the first time, and one hundred percent sure the most spectacular place you will have ever seen.

The entire coastal area is particularly beautiful with multiple viewpoints around the edge of the cliffs contrast dramatically with the turquoise blue waters.

Way down to the Kelingking Beach

There are stairs and railings made out of timber that lead down the spine of Kelingking to the beach. They are not greatly maintained so please don’t put 100% of your weight on them. Be safe if you venture down!

It should be noted, that the safety at Kelingking is reliant on the bamboo railing. At many points along the cliff edge, there is no rail whatsoever. And the grass just leads you off the edge, down hundreds of feet onto the rocks. Be careful, as you walk along the edge enjoying the view.

Towards the bottom of the steps, it’s more like a ladder than steps. Thus, you need to take it slowly and be very careful as you make your way down.

You will also need both hands free to hold on, so bring a handbag or small backpack. Undoubtedly, this is a difficult hike and you definitely need decent shoes, sunscreen and plenty of water. 

Once you reached the beach, you will see an amazing spot with the insane waves. The undercurrents can be strong and there are no lifeguards around. Due to, please don’t swim if you aren’t 100% sure you can handle the conditions.

Best time to visit Kelingking T-Rex Beach on Nusa Penida

Overall, Kelingking Beach can be visited at any time of the day. I personally visited this beach at around 6am and stayed until 9am and I had it all to myself, except for the monkeys who kept me company. The best time to visit is between March and November, avoiding the rainy season which is December through till February.

If you want to grab something to eat and drink during your visit to Kelingking Beach, there are some small restaurants at the top of the cliffs. During my visit they were not open as it was early in the morning.
